Preventable deaths twice average rate in intellectual disabilities: study finds

Preventable Death Rates Double in ID/DD Population
Due to lack of knowledge and inadequate training among physicians, service providers and medical workers, preventable death rates among the population with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities are twice the average.  In this population medical or health problems that often manifest as behavioral challenges are often misdiagnosed.
